Pipe Fittings.-Aboard ship it is often necessary to cut, thread, bend and fit together various lengths of pipes. It is therefore important to be thoroughly familiar with the commonly used fittings, examples of which are shown in Fig. 96.
Pipes up to 2 inches in diameter are usually joined with pipe fittings. The pipe fittings are tapped and threaded with pipe threads, which taper 3/4 inch per foot of thread.
